Marketing Events
Leanplum automatically tracks and enables for segmentation default message events specific to the messaging channel.
For each message (push notification, email, in-app, sms, webhook, etc.), Leanplum will track a number of message specific events in the user profile, which are available for segmentation.
Examples:
- Use Total occurrences to segment for users who have received "Cart Abandonment Push #1" at least 3 times
- Use First occurrence to segment for users who first received "Welcome Email EN" in the last 5 days
Push Notifications
Leanplum will track aggregated Push Sent, Push Open and Push Delivered events for all pushes you've sent through Leanplum.
Event | Description |
---|---|
Push Sent | The total number of pushes the user has been sent |
Push Delivered | The total number of pushes with confirmed delivery on the device from all push sends Important: Available only for Android SDK 5.4.0 and above |
Push Open | The total number of push opens across all pushes the user has received Important: Available only for Android |
For each push notification you set up in Leanplum, the following events will be tracked:
Event | Description |

Sent | Fires when a push notification is sent to a user's device |
Open | Fires when a user taps a push notification |
Bounce | Fires on push notification attempt failure |
Suppressed | Fires when a push notification is suppressed |
Email
Leanplum will track aggregated marketing events for all emails you run in Leanplum.
Event | Description |
---|---|
Email Sent | The total number of email sends across all emails the user has been sent |
Email Open | The total number of email opens across all emails the user has received |
Email Clicked | The total number of link clicks across all emails the user has received |
Email Delivered | The total number of confirmed email deliveries across all emails |
Email Bounced | The total number of email bounces across all emails the user has been sent |
Email Dropped | The total number of dropped emails across all emails the user has been sent |
Email Marked as Spam | The total number of emails marked as spam across all emails the user has received |
For each email you set up in Leanplum, the following events will be tracked:

Unsubscribe | Tracked when the user unsubscribes from the email |
Marked as spam | Tracked when the email is marked as spam |
Held back | Tracked when the user does not receive an email because of a holdback group |
In-app messages
